How to Apply Labels
How to Apply Your Labels
A few simple steps can help your labels look great and stay firmly in place.
Step 1 — Choose the Right Surface
For adhesive labels, smooth, clean and dry surfaces generally provide the best adhesion.
Avoid applying labels over dirt, grease, moisture or heavily textured surfaces unless the product is specifically designed for them.
Step 2 — Clean the Surface
Clean the area where the label will be applied.
Make sure the surface is completely dry and free from dust, oil, soap or cleaning residue before continuing.
Step 3 — Peel Carefully
Carefully peel the label away from its backing.
Try not to touch the adhesive side more than necessary.
Step 4 — Position Your Label
Place the label in your desired position.
For larger labels, start at one edge and gradually smooth the label across the surface to help minimize air bubbles.
Step 5 — Press Firmly
Press firmly across the entire label, paying particular attention to the edges and corners.
Step 6 — Allow It to Bond
Give the adhesive sufficient time to bond before washing, soaking or placing the item under heavy use.
Follow any product-specific waiting period shown in the product description or instructions supplied with your labels.
Helpful Tips
For best results, don't apply labels to wet, dusty, oily or very rough surfaces.
Avoid repeatedly peeling and repositioning adhesive labels, as this can reduce adhesion.
Always follow the specific care instructions provided for your particular label type.
